Problem Description 

The integrated Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-7265 device may experience difficulty connecting or remaining connected to certain Wireless access points and routers. 

 

Reported behaviors include: 

  • Failure to connect to certain wireless access points or routers
  • Random and repeated signal drop 
  • Failure to function after entering a sleep-state for an extended period (error displayed next to the the Wireless icon in the notification area of the taskbar

Solution/Workaround

Intel has released new driver (18.30.0.9) that is intended to resolve a number of connectivity problems reported with its Dual Band Wireless-AC series of devices. 

 

There are three different methods for obtaining this driver:

  1. Install directly from Device Manager (recommended)
  2. Download from Kangaroo Customer Support Portal
  3. Download from Intel directly

 

Note: Installing the driver via Device Manager is the recommended method, as there's no need to download a driver installation package, and consumes considerably less storage space.  

Installation via Device Manager

  1. Launch Device Manager
  2. Select the desired subsystem icon, and activate the Windows Driver Update applet
  3. Locate and Install the Device Driver software
  4. Verify successful installation of the driver

Launch Device Manager

  • To launch Device Manager, right-click on the Start  menu icon, and select Device Manager.

 

Activate the Windows Driver Update Applet
  • Click the arrow next to the Network Adapters subsystem icon.
  • Right-click on the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-7265 component icon.
  • Select Update Driver Software

 

Device Manager > Network Adapters > Intel Dual Band Wireless  > Update Driver Software

 

 

 Locate & Install the Device Driver Software
  • Select Search automatically for updated driver software

 

Verify Successful Installation of the Device Driver Software
  • Launch Device Manager
  • Click the arrow next to the Network Adapters subsystem icon.
  • Right-click on the Intel Dual Band Wireless AC-7265 component icon.
  • Click Properties

 

  • Verify the Driver Date (11/3/2015) and version (18.30.09), as per the below image.
